Lonely Planet Hotels & Hostels has been working hard with its recommended booking partners to make even more Lonely Planet reviewed and recommended properties available online, as well as other properties.
Lonely Planet Hotels & Hostels is now leveraging the full offering of its booking partners to bring you exclusive deals and promotions.
What are recommended booking providers?
Lonely Planet has been working with a selected number of reputable travel companies, namely Expedia and Hostelworld, which you may have seen on Lonely Planet Bookings & Services. Those companies are ideally suited to service the needs of independent travellers.
Now we’ve made the recommended accommodation booking partners available on Lonely Planet Hotels & Hostels to give travellers more options to book Lonely Planet reviewed properties. When you book through one of our recommended booking partners, you leave our website - the booking service is provided by the partner and not by Lonely Planet, and it is that partner’s responsibility to observe all fulfilment, billing and customer service. We recommend you check their terms and conditions before you make a booking.
We’ve made every effort to select the best, but cannot guarantee that every partner will meet your price and service expectations. You should also know that when you make a booking via one of our recommended booking partners, Lonely Planet will receive a commission from that partner.
When you book through a recommended booking partner, we will use your personal details only if you have agreed to receive information from Lonely Planet, or if you have subscribed to Comet (our e-newsletter). Rest assured, we will only send you what you have asked for as per our privacy policy. For information on how your personal information will be used by the partners you book with, we suggest you read their privacy policies privacy policies.
We regularly evaluate our providers and are happy to hear about your experience with them. Your feedback will assist us in our ongoing assessment of their services.
To make enquiries, read their privacy and security policies or contact them directly, you will find the appropriate information links on the contact us page.

Are Lonely Planet reviews still independent?
Of course they are! Reviews and descriptions on Lonely Planet Hotels & Hostels are totally independent, written by experienced travel writers and cannot be edited by the property. Our authors are independent, dedicated travellers who do not accept kickbacks, payment or favours in return for positive reviews.

Why book with us?
- More independently reviewed and recommended properties. Our authors are continually visiting and reviewing properties throughout the world. Once an author has checked out a property, the review is published on Lonely Planet Hotels & Hostels. And if you've travelled with a Lonely Planet guidebook, you'll know how great their choices. If the property is listed with one of our partners then it’s instantly bookable online on our site. If it’s not listed with any of our booking partners, simply book it by contacting the property directly.
- More properties available with our partners. Sometimes you won’t find any Lonely Planet recommendations because we haven't covered that destination yet. This is where our partners comes in handy as you can still book online properties, they're just not reviewed by our authors.
- More destinations. If you want to get off the beaten track and bed down in Lombok, or if you want to hit the mainstream and stay in Paris - we've got the world covered.
- More property types. Whether you want to book a backpackers’ hostel in Sydney, an eco-resort in Yap or a boutique hotel in Rome, you’ll find your dream place to sleep on Lonely Planet Hotels & Hostels.
