Studio

Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Alice on Todd is a self-contained oasis within Alice Springs - a group of spacious and well-equipped studios and larger apartments all snuggled together in a surprisingly large compound on the town's equivalent of the Left Bank (in this case, the left 'bank' of the dry Todd River).

Studios are located at ground level while the one- and two-bedroom apartments sit above these and come with their own balconies. Our favourites were the ones with a balcony looking toward Todd River, though these are exposed to the (albeit fairly minimal) noise of traffic coasting up and down South Tce. The apartments' austere modern decor is quickly forgotten once you test out the modern appliances, such as those in the kitchen, and realise how much space is at your disposal. Undercover parking is also provided. There's an on-site games room and a heart-shaped, palm-fringed pool.

Author Tip

Only a short distance back towards the town centre is the Royal Flying Doctor Service Base. This long-standing outback operation looks after the health of people living in communities within a 600km (373mi) radius of Alice Springs. Tours of the base reveal its control room and historical exhibits.
