Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Hidden down a secretive side street that lies east of Todd River is this intimate 10-room backpackers' hostel, replete with unique bedroom arrangements, decorative flourishes and loads of individual charm.

The hostel offers a limited but creative and colourful array of accommodation choices. These include a caravan, 'donga'-style dorms (a donga is a small, transportable and usually corrugated-iron structure used in the outback for basic shelter) and a pair of rooms in the building that contains the kitchen and TV lounge. The latter option is probably best avoided unless you're comfortable sleeping off the main communal area. The best room is the van in the backyard - of all the doubles, it's the only one with a DVD player - kind of like being in an up-market trailer park. Also in the backyard is a new saltwater pool, a fishpond and lots of chairs. The arty bent of this humble and welcoming place is typified by the fire-twirling and poi lessons.
