Lonely Planet Review

Quotes A long-standing option in the heart of Plaka (but quiet), this unassuming hotel will appeal to those who value a homely and peaceful atmosphere over modern styling or many facilities. It also has possibly the biggest balconies in Athens!

The Adams is a good option for families, for there are two comfortable suites with twin beds in one room and a double in another - both of these have balconies, boasting views of the ramparts of the Acropolis. The furnishings are decent and solid, without being flashy. Other rooms are doubles, all with parquet floors. Some of these also have the view, and all are quiet and have air-con. Despite the rooms being renovated, the hotel feels dated, and some of the more recently opened choices in Plaka have passed it by in terms of decor and vitality. But there's a very comforting feel about the place, and it's run by a welcoming local family who've quietly gone about their business this way for years. They'll do your laundry for you, and make you feel at home in many other ways.

Author Tip

A spot of Greek folk dancing is just what you need to round off a trip to Athens. The Dora Stratou company have their own theatre in Koukaki, and have nightly shows. They also run classes in summer.
