There's a wide range of comfortable, bright modern rooms here but the best thing is its secluded location, down an alleyway off Tridevi Marg. The intimate, friendly vibe makes all the difference. It's close to Thamel, banks on Tridevi Marg and nearby restaurants but it's also super easy to get around the centre of town by foot or taxi.
The cheapest single rooms aren't up to much but the mid-priced corner rooms with sofa and bathroom are particularly good value. The top-priced suites are perfect for families. It's a classic rambling multi-storey concrete building, so don't expect any traditional architecture, but there are lots of terraces with seating areas and a relaxing rooftop. Management does a great job keeping everyone happy. It's a natural choice if you are planning on doing some courses at the Himalayan Buddhist Meditation Centre next door.

Close by on Tridevi Marg you'll find one of Kathmandu's best Tibetan bookstores, the swanky J-Bar and the excellent Bakery Café and Himalayan Java coffeehouse. There's even a couple of Indian snakecharmers! Or head east to the peaceful Garden of Dreams, a wonderfully restored Edwardian-inspired garden.
The edge of the hotel borders on the former Kaiser Mahal palace compound.
