Lonely Planet Review
If you are looking for a dash of style and a bang-on central location, this comfortable three-star place is an excellent choice. It's understandably popular with small tour groups. The buzzing crowds in the alley below are rivalled only by those of the Potala seen from the rooftop patio.
The Nepalese owners have clearly put some effort into creating a luxuriant feel here. From the ornate lobby murals and the traditional brass knockers on the green-lacquered guestroom doors to the room lights converted from monastery butter lamps, the ornate Tibetan decoration is laid on thick but nicely done. The comfortable rooms come with traditional Tibetan furniture, modern bathrooms and kettles, though the singles are quite cramped. As with many hotels in Lhasa, the lighting can be dim for night-time reading. For a small premium you can reserve one of the rooms with a killer view of the Potala Palace. Breakfast is included, and the Nepali-style restaurant offers good Indian curries and Tibetan dishes. For a post-dinner snack the lobby shop is one of the few places in town to sell imported Nepali treats such as HobNob biscuits and Cadbury chocolate.

Author Tip
Just a block west of the hotel, the Tromsikhang is the old town's major market, flogging everything from yak butter and dried noodles to incense powder and fresh vegetables. It's a great place to see what local Tibetans are buying or stock up for a picnic.
