Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Just outside Metro Sevilla is this little-known guesthouse, essentially a second-floor apartment outfitted for travelers. Standing in a little residential enclave around a parking lot, it makes a handy base for low-budget visitors spending a week or more in the DF.

Not to be confused with the luxurious Casa Vieja in Polanco, the modest orange block sports only one 'old house' element: the pseudo tiled roof edge that adorns the façade. But it's a homey arrangement, with a sweet-natured staff. Four two-bed rooms and one four-bunk dorm share a large blue bathroom; another room occupies the former maid's quarters up on the roof. Guests from all over congregate in the simply decorated sitting room, crowned by a glass block skylight, or put together snacks in the kitchen. Perhaps the Casa's strongest point is its location, easily accessible by foot, bus or metro to just about everything.

Author Tip

The workaday section of Colonia Juárez is just west of the Zona Rosa, the boutique and nightlife district. Bosque de Chapultepec, the sprawling city park and museum zone, is a few blocks west. For food, try the authentic Korean restaurants along Calle Hamburgo, a block north. Cross Ave Chapultepec and continue down Calle Cozumel to El Bodeguito del Medio, a branch of the boisterous Cuban social club.
