Lonely Planet Review
'The Village' is a fine, 25-room hostel with beamed ceilings, a lovely outside terrace and views of Sacré Cœur. It is definitely one of the most desirable budget addresses in Montmartre.
Dormitory beds are in rooms for four to eight people, and all rooms have showers and a toilet. Kitchen facilities are available, and there's a popular bar too. Rooms are closed between 11:00 and 16:00 for cleaning. Prices include breakfast. All rooms are nonsmoking and Internet access is available at reception for 1.00 for 15 minutes. Some of the rooms in the main building are fabulous; check out No 401, a triple with a good shower and toilet with a postcard view of Sacré Coeur. The annexe, across the patio, has dorm rooms in rooms 107 to 110. It's a not quiet place to stay but you certainly would not call it a party place.

Author Tip
The dome of the Basilique du Sacré Coeur, accessible via 234 spiralling steps, affords one of the most spectacular panoramas in the world; they say you can see for 30km (19mi) on a clear day.
Curious Fact
A perpetual prayer 'cycle' began at the consecration of the basilica in 1919 and has never stopped.
