Lonely Planet Review

Quotes This friendly hostel is just down the hill from raucous Place Pigalle. It is in a quiet, residential quarter and is a good choice if you want to be close to Montmartre but not exactly in the thick of it.

Dorm beds are in rooms sleeping four to six people in bunk beds, and each room has a sink only; showers and toilets are off the corridor. Rooms are shut from 11:00 to 15:00, and the (enforced) curfew is at 02:00. The high season rates also apply over Christmas and the New Year holidays. It's a pleasant, quirky place, with a spoiled feline in residence and half a Volkswagen Beetle mounted on the wall of the lobby bar. Best of all is the fully-equipped eat-in kitchen down the steps from the patio, which has everything. All rooms here are nonsmoking. Internet access is available for 2.00 for 30 minutes (though wi-fi is free). Prices include breakfast.

Author Tip

If you're (ahem) up for it, check out the Musée de l'Érotisme (72 Blvd de Clichy, 18e), the 'Museum of Erotic Art' northwest of the hostel that has some 2000 titillating statuary, stimulating sexual aids and fetishist items from days gone by on display.

Curious Fact

The shops along Rue Victor Massé, which begins 100m (110 yards) west of the hostel, have always specialised in musical instruments, and this is the place to pick up a guitar (or harmonica or ukulele or oboe).
