Quotes The Radisson is the modern reincarnation of the 1930s Alcron Hotel, long favoured by celebrities and diplomats. Many of the original Art Deco marble-and-glass fittings have been preserved, and the 211 rooms have been far more tastefully renovated than in certain other refurbished Prague hotels.

Located just a few minutes' walk from Wenceslas Square, the five-star Radisson is all you could ask for in an international business hotel, without too much of the globalised blandness that tends to afflict these kinds of places. Instead, they've retained and developed the Art Deco stylings of the old Alcron Hotel. However, behind the Deco chandeliers and jazzy art, this is essentially a place where harried business travellers quickly check in and out and try to relax in-between. The rooms have pleasant, soft furnishings and retro prints, while mod cons such as wi-fi access, video games and minibars add to the comfort and convenience. The marble bathrooms are rather chic too. Larger and pricier 'Royal Club' rooms and suites have further perks including separate check-ins, and free newspapers and slippers. There are also barrier-free rooms for disabled guests.

How To Get There

From Prague Ruzyne Airport (PRG):
Distance to Radisson SAS Alcron Hotel is 10 kilometres, approximately 25 minutes' drive.

Getting there. Registered taxis wait outside the Arrivals hall and cost about 600 CZK-900 CZK (22 EUR-32 EUR) to the city centre. Minibuses depart from outside the Arrivals hall and run to Namesti Republiky square, in the city centre. The single fare is 90 CZK per person. Bus numbers 119 and 254 run to Dejvicka, the airport's closest metro station. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes, and single tickets cost 20 CZK (1 EUR). Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. The Radisson SAS Alcron Hotel is on Stepanska, one block from Wenceslas Square. Prague's historic centre is compact and easy to explore on foot, as many roads are pedestrianised. There is an efficient and inexpensive public transport system, including trams, buses, metro, and a funicular railway. Tickets are available from tobacconists, stations, and many hotel reception desks, and can be used on all modes of transport. Five of the major metro stations have information offices, with schedules, maps, and directions. There is an onsite parking garage at the hotel (surcharge).

The Radisson has great facilities, including two excellent restaurants. The Alcron, with just 24 seats, is one of the city's most fashionable places for seafood. The Art Deco Be Bop Bar is a lively jazz bar and a good place to relax over a cocktail. If you want to head out, Wenceslas Sq, with all its bars, restaurants, shops and the National Museum, is five minutes east.
