Quotes Easy-going and popular, Papa Germano is a budget stalwart. There are various sleeping options, ranging from four-person dorms to private rooms with or without private bathrooms. Breakfast is included in room rates but internet access costs 2.00 per hour and air-con is an extra 5.00.

This perennial favourite buzzes with activity. Travellers check their email in the lobby while backpackers troop in from Termini and families breakfast in the bar area. For those on a tight budget, the four-bed dorms are the cheapest option. And as dorms go, they're fine - no bunk beds, a sink in the corner and a fridge for cooling drinks. Moving up the comfort scale, the private rooms are pretty good for the money. The functional interiors are nothing to get excited about but they're spacious, safe and clean. Some final points: the English-speaking staff are friendly; you get your own key so can come and go as you like; kids under three stay free if they share their parents' bed; and free city maps are available.

How To Get There

- ARRIVING BY TRAIN AT 'TERMINI' TRAIN STATION: Exit the Train Station on Via Marsala and make left. After the traffic lights Via Marsala becomes Via Volturno. The second street on the right of Via Volturno is Via Calatafimi, the street were we are at number 14/a. See the map above. - ARRIVING BY PLANE AT 'LEONARDO DA VINCI' INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (FIUMICINO): Take the the direct train to Termini Station (the ticket's price is approximately euro 10). You will arrive to platform 26; from there, go to the main hall of the station. Exit by platform/track 1 on Via Marsala and then follow the directions written above. - ARRIVING BY PLANE AT 'CIAMPINO' AIRPORT: Take the train to Termini Station (the train station is not very near the airport). There are also the shuttle busses going from the airport to the metro stop 'Anagnina' or 'Cinecittà'. From there, take the metro LINE A to 'Termini'. - ARRIVING BY TRAIN AT 'TIBURTINA' STATION: Take metro LINE B to Termini Station and from there follow the directions above. - ARRIVING BY CAR: Follow directions to Termini Train Station. Contact the hotel by phone if you are in trouble.

- COME ARRIVARE DALLA STAZIONE TERMINI: Basta seguire il percorso indicato nella mappa e si arriverà in Via Calatafimi in soli 5 minuti camminando. - COME ARRIVARE DALL'AEREOPORTO "LEONARDO DA VINCI" DI FIUMICINO: Occorre prendere il treno speciale per la Stazione Termini e seguire poi le indicazioni della mappa. - COME ARRIVARE DALL'AEREOPORTO DI "CIAMPINO": Prendere il treno fino alla Stazione Termini oppure l'autobus fino alla fermata "Anagnina" o "Cinecittà". Da qui bisogna proseguire con la metropolitana LINEA A fino alla fermata "Termini". - COME ARRIVARE DALLA STAZIONE TIBURTINA: Occorre prendere la metropolitana LINEA B fino alla Stazione Termini e poi seguire le indicazioni fornite sulla mappa. - COME ARRIVARE IN AUTO: Bisogna prendere come riferimento l'uscita 14 del Grande Raccordo Anulare e poi prendere la tangenziale est.
