Lonely Planet Review

Quotes A perennial favourite with backpackers, the Pop Inn is laid-back, lively and a little tatty round the edges. Rock music fills the common rooms and the multilingual staff are friendly. Beds are available in dorms or private rooms with/without en suites.

Bunk down any closer to Termini and you'd be sleeping on the platforms. Ideal for those with an early train, this friendly hostel is strong on atmosphere, less so on facilities. There's no kitchen for example, and bathrooms are shared between about 15 people, meaning morning queues; the hostel's also not the quietest. However, the international English-speaking staff are young and fun, the beds in the mixed dorms (under 35s only) are decent enough and the upbeat mood is infectious. College students won't feel out of place here although the yellow corridors might jar with raging red-wine hangovers. Notable extras include free Internet (there are two PCs in the smallish common room), nightly movies and breakfast available 24 hours a day at a bar next door.

How To Get There

Directions from termini train station: VERY EASY! Leave the station from the side exit by track n°1, you can see the Pop Inn sign from there. Cross the street, walk 50 meters to the right and you have arrived at number 80! To get from Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) airport to TERMINI (the main train station) you only need to walk to the train station in the airport. From there is a train leaving every 30 minutes to Termini. The train takes aboout half an hour to get to Termini and costs about 11.00 euro per person. You can buy the ticket at one of the ticket desks which is by the train station in the airport. -To get from the Ciampino airport to the hostel the easiest would be to take the direct shuttle bus, which takes about 30-40 minutes and costst 8.00 euro per person. It drops off and picks up directly on Via Marsala (the street we are on) -Also to get ffrom the Ciampino airport you could first take a bus from the airport to the Metro stop ANAGNINA of the Metro line A, and form there you take the Metro to the station, stop TERMINI. This would cost about 2 euros per person. How long it would take to get here depends on how easy you find a connection between train/bus, but it would be at least 1 hour.

Check out the incredible collection of Roman sculpture at the Museo Nazional Romano: Palazzo Massimo alle Terme, just off Piazza dei Cinquecento. Then nip down to Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II for the best Indian takeaway in town.
