Arguably the best value hotel in San'a, the immaculately touched up rooms are chock full of delicious textiles, frumpy old-fashioned furniture and lots of little extras that help to set the Dawood apart from the competition.
In a short space of time this brash new upstart in the heart of Old San'a has pretty much taken out the mantle of finest budget/midrange hotel in the city. How has it achieved this you may cry? With the kind of attention-to-detail and customer service that wouldn't go amiss in the average five-star joint. The rooms range from the simple mattresses on the floor and no fuss affair to the elaborate 'Honeymoon Suite', (though try telling your other half that you were thinking of Yemen for a honeymoon!). The more expensive rooms on the upper floors come with a miniature museums worth of real and not so real antiques, but whichever you go for all are stylishly done and receive an incense sprinkling every evening. Another massive plus is the pretty flower filed courtyard restaurant and its location next to a communal vegetable garden.

From this hotel I would set forth to the cluster of art galleries in the old city, where I would fawn over the bold, bright and bulging cartoon-like figurine paintings that San'a artists so excel at.
