Lonely Planet Review

Quotes This budget hotel is handily placed near the train station and overlooks a pretty square, Campo San Geremia. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and the square is a hive of activity during the day, but perfectly quiet at night.

Whether you're a group or a solo traveller this hotel's cornucopia of room sizes will be able to accommodate you. Rooms are compact but practically designed, with clean bathrooms and thoughtful touches such as lights above the mirrors, and bins by the sinks. Furniture is in the traditional Venetian lacquered style unless you're in a dorm, in which case it's just the standard bunk bed look. In-room Internet access is provided. Although a notice at reception warns that you can't wash clothes in your rooms, a communal washing machine has been provided. The rooms with the best view (and views are everything when it comes to Venetian hotels) look onto the square.

How To Get There

When you arrive at Marco Polo airport you can take bus n.5, while if you arrive at Treviso airport take an ATVO bus: both get to Piazzale Roma (the main bus station in Venice). From the Bus Station you follow the main street and you have to reach the railway station, which is on the other side of The " Grand Canal". You cross a big bridge, called "Ponte degli Scalzi": after the bridge you'll find the train station on your left and a main street, called "Lista di Spagna" on your right. From the train station turn left and follow the main street called Lista di Spagna. Follow this street, go straight on until you find the first square called "Campo San Geremia". We are there on the left, above a book shop called "Giunti". The number outside the door is 283

Author Tip

The bookshop (Giunti, Campo San Geremia 282) just below your hotel doesn't close until midnight most days, so you could almost consider it a nightlife option. Earlier in the day people-watching on Lista di Spagna makes good sport - watch the herd of day-trippers make the pilgrimage from the train station to Piazza San Marco and be smug in the knowledge that you are staying for longer than 24 hours.
